@chjara famine is a political act. Any country that has gone through famine has not had a lack of food. It is either the food is being taken by the elites, being sold for higher prices, or being destroyed as collective punishment. The food has been grown but it just isn’t being given to those that need it.
The Irish Famine wasn’t due to a lack of food — Irish crop yields were pretty good. The food was being taken by British landowners and exported to the UK where it would fetch higher prices than in Ireland.
Famine and hunger are acts of political violence. They are not due to a lack of food. We have plenty of food on this planet, it is that people who control the food supply have chosen not to distribute it appropriately.
