Emmet Coughlan@kainisenni from what I'd seen discussed elsewhere, They already *had* a from-scratch Azure linux distro in the cloud compute space for quite some time, and their tooling overlaps with Fedora so much that they're just gonna rebase onto that instead of maintaining the same stuff twice.
I feel like they can reap the benefits of uBlue's cloud-first Bluefin/Bazzite/Aurora development pipelines that way too if they wanted, because those are Fedora-based too.
