“No elected official ... should ever fear for their safety because of their ... policy positions.” Hard disagree on that. All politicians should be absolutely terrified of throwing a large number of their constituents under the bus for the sake of well-funded lobbyists. It should keep them wide awake with that cash under their mattresses.
