Looking for explanations…I was excited when Dr Who rebooted with Ecclestone. I got a little weary during Matt Smith’s time, not because of him, but because the writing got a little tired. Or maybe it was me. I was excited to have a female Dr Who, but again, found the writing a bit ordinary on occasion. And I’m a fan of Gatwa’s, but found the characters shallow, undeveloped, and the plots too silly. There was probably some good stuff in there, but after a few episodes, I lost interest.
I don’t know what the answer is, but bringing back old favourites won’t fix it. The actors can only excel when the writing gives them something to work with.
