Haven't you heard of nafo.uk or nafo.social or nafo.army or weare.nafocats.com? You think that's not 100% feds?

Have you seen the ISD reports on the trouble they're having taking down "misinformation" on fedi? And there's this: https://blog.freespeechextremist.com/blog/fse-vs-fbi.html . And I can say that running an instance, I have seen plenty of government-owned IPs so if those guys weren't feds, then they were on government networks looking for "extremists".

Feds (US and German, probably more countries, but those two are confirmed) show up on these random tiny forums with a few hundred people. The FBI was caught posting on 8chan. Fedi is much bigger.
