@barrybestt It was FDR who brought electricity to rural areas. Before the Rural Electrification Act of 1938 only 2% of farms had electricity, and that was decades after cities were electrified.

Edison had his role, but the profit motive only goes so far. (And the Sierra Club was founded as a protest over Hetch Hetchy, a damn built as a water reservoir, not for power generation.)
