- Embed this notice@theorytoe I think the op was referencing pharmaceuticals, which are worse than medical devices in terms of bilking Americans. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a couple hospital cash flows and pharma gets a huge markup not just from manufacturer to hospital but also hospital to patient (this doesn’t even include retail pharmacy but I have less experience there). Procedures that require medical devices are also generally less common than pharma treatments. Medtronic, the largest med device company is 100B cap vs Eli Lilly with a nearly 700B cap. They’ve been getting away with murder.
