Question: Is "China Observer" on YouTube legitimate and at least partly credible, or are they engaged in disseminating misinformation?

I'm curious about these 'missing Chinese population' videos that they post on YouTube, where they purportedly show major metropolitan areas in China (like normally congested parts of Shanghai and Beijing) at peak times as virtually empty. I've seen a number of these videos now, and IIRC I also saw one in late 2024 right before the Chink Newb Year that was trying to show an unusual absence of travel activity and apparent disappearance of train commuters during this time, which goes against custom. There's one out there with a supposed Celestial claiming that the Chinese government is misrepresenting its population size by a substantial margin, instead speculating that their actual population is likely closer to 800 million or even less.

I'm surprised to see that these videos haven't generated more controversy or discussion, on here or YouTube, though it's quite possible I've missed it. I've only seen two small channels that I check out every once in a while mention these videos, though neither one has any personal knowledge of the situation or direct connection to China.

Are the claims made by these videos completely bogus or is there validity to them? Granted, there are other videos by all different channels alleging Chinese imminent economic collapse, bankruptcy, and depression, as well as ongoing crisis, but I don't think they are making demographic claims as stark as these other videos.

I'm a little reluctant to buy into this, but I have no way of what's really going on there one way or the other. Maybe one of the true patriots who orders Chinese food all the time can poll their local Chinese take-out employees about this crucial matter? I would myself, but I don't. They feed Jews on Christmas, and I'm against that, though what the Chinese are actually feeding them on that day probably isn't considered real food by any genuine human beings anyway.
