Emacs org-mode agenda has served me well. the trickiest bit for me was make it a habit to look at upcoming events. I always have the current-week agenda open in one of my virtual desktops, right next to my time-tracking and note-taking buffers, so I usually get an early peek at upcoming events for the next few days and can prepare myself for them. sometimes I set a reminder event for the week or a few days before, and that helps
