When I graduated university I couldn't get an industry job, so I lived in house shares and worked various temp jobs, mostly as a cleaner.

After work I'd go back to my little room and paint in an attempt to get an industry standard portfolio together.

Sometimes, when I give talks people are worried about getting a job immediately after graduating. If you do then great! But it's also not the end of the world if it takes time.
