i found this buried in the dvd section at a thrift shop today and i am so excited to read it. published almost 140 years ago, the book is an extremely detailed account of the interiors and exteriors of japanese homes of the 19th century.
every aspect of craftsmanship is covered - from ceiling and roof wood braces, to the proper folding of sheets, lunch bentos, and sitting za-zen. the woodcut-style line art is to die for.
i'm glad to see IA has a scanned copy of the book too https://archive.org/details/japanesehomesthe00morsuoft/
