I am pointing out that the abuses of the Gulag system are similar to those of the American prison system. People were tried and put to forced labor. Americans who claim to be horrified by the Gulag live peacefully with an identical, perhaps worse, prison system.

Comparing the Gulag with what is happening now to foreigners is simply a falsification of history. It is to say that every aberrant Western behavior has an Eastern counterpart. What is happening now has a long history in Western history and is called a racialized contraction field.
