I think it's less him defending paedophilia and more him being an autistic intellectual.

I think his thought pattern is not illogical, that is most all cases of paedophillia are non-consensual (obviously) thus he saw the problem being one of consent not that having sex with a child is inherently wrong and often causes physiological damage to the victim.
