@oshy @anemone Microsoft strikes me as the department in deep trouble with the central higher ups. They attempted a last hurray with game pass and buying so many devs, but it was little too late a lot of it, again, exactly when AAA became high slop. I'm pretty sure that... I think it's clear that the central higher ups are pissed because Microsoft has made magnificently stupid moves recently. Realistically, a refocus like this would take minimal 10 years to recover in full form, but now you have them porting freaking everything, rumors are that they're porting everything to the Switch 2 too, then then selling that one japanese studio that was making really well liked games after games and jesus christ man. And now with their awful "everything is an xbox" thing, the department is clearly done
