EdBoatConnoisseur@mischievoustomato Louis has a point, making that point has been a staple of linuc "culture" for the las 2 decades, the real problem is that everyone loves to roll up their own "intuitive just works" solution to do some linux stuff but no one likes to agree on a standar way to do things nor on stabdar specs, even the freedesktop standar specs took many years to design and many more to implement just for desktop environments like gnome to completely ignore the standars and implement their own namespaced interfaces and protocols...
