Jesus cursed the fig tree for not bearing fruit, despite it not being the season for figs, because it bore leaves and deceived onlookers as having fruits. The fig tree is the jews: who portray themselves as God's chosen, but in reality the synagogue of satan. Hence Jesus cursed it because jews are not "the light to the world", but its eternal darkness
