If you get and sdr dongle, I'd also pick up an AM and an FM filter. Depending on what you're looking for, filtering out strong radio transmissions can clear up other frequencies a bit.

Tbh... sdr is pretty based given the price and what it can pickup with a simple pair of rabbit ears.
