@GeorgWeissenbacher (It’s not just research, but everyday life). I use Apple devices. Currently linux doesnt run on Apple Sillicon, but my point is not so much whether there is a linux port at all, but whether I can have things like reasonable battery life. I get 10-12 hours battery life on my macbook air. Even when a linux port to apple silicon is completed, I don’t see similar battery life ever being achieved. Too much strength comes from tight integration between hardware and software.
I dream of a similarly high quality linux-based laptop, but thats just a dream. Linux remains viable for desktop computers, but for me it is not productive to mix operating systems — I need all or nothing. If I stop needing a laptop, I’ll reevaluate.
