Orthodox Judaism is so much worse than the Catholic Church, it's not remotely comparable. The Church hasn't been perfect on this front, but Judaism is so much worse, and the defects of Judaism have been maliciously projected onto Catholicism. And for the past century or so the neuroses of Orthodox Judaism have permeated all of society through psychology and mass media, so even without the direct imposition of said rules, secularized Jews still have a deeply embedded guilt-trip culture.
