So if a black hole bends space time as you approach the singularity, you will never actually reach it, at least from the perspective of an outside observer.

If that is the case than from a reference of the outside, nothing has EVER reached the singularity of any blackhole because in order for that to occur an infinite amount of time would have had to pass.
