What I meant to say was there is a problem with communal infra *which turn into hard failure points and end up putting undue pressure on volunteers*, e.g. a mastodon instance.

totally agreed that stewards are the lifebloods of communities. And I want them to be able to to retire / mysteriously disappear without necessarily taking the network along with them
