There is only Adobe dictating whether they'll allow each of their subsidiaries to operate (licensing server down or in sanctioned country? say goodbye to that subsidiary), how their subsidiaries will operate and how much the dividend will be (pray that Adobe doesn't increase their dividend too much the next subscription price hike).
Yes, that's right - if you don't control the software "your" business requires to operate, you don't control the business - the business is under the control of a malicious multinational corporation, meaning it is merely a subsidiary such corporation.
The first chaining of the malware is only discounted - it's not even gratis or even discounted that much.
The only software that can possibly become an industry standard is free software, as each company then has control over their own business and can agree to standardize on formats and communication protocols etc.
