In particular, the basis of Khalil's deportation appears to have something to do with "providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization" (Hamas), which is a serious crime he could be charged with if there is evidence he committed it. But they seem to be redefining "material support" to go well beyond the required elements of the crime, to include mere advocacy of purely political goals that Hamas also happens to share.
