This is what I wrote in response to someone who believes the removal of DEI initiatives was a good thing.
"I assume you realize that DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) is (or was) intended to address racial, sexual, and other inequities resulting from past policies, such as slavery. Affirmative action was one of the ways to achieve DEI, and I strongly believe such efforts are necessary until everyone stands on equal footing. I wouldn’t call the removal of these initiatives a 'correction.' Instead, it’s a step backward in the pursuit of a truly equitable society"
