This really is absolutely how it feels sometimes, and I'm glad I don't have to be hyperaware of the news for work any more and apply heavy filters to my feeds on fedi, the only social media I still use, and manage to mostly avoid the worst accidental interactions with the eternal debates about whether I have the right to exist.
Nonetheless, the day I finally started T, my feeds included horrifically detailed reports of the remarkably brutal murder of a trans man, shared by fellow trans people, as a warning.
And yes, I suppose the warnings are needed.
But happy as I am to have got here - and it's not my first time as part of a disproportionately high risk group (SW, unhoused, whatever) - there's a weight to an existence that is physically inseparable from the ceaseless cascade of warnings about its consequences.
