I think the smaller = more flavorful thing holds true for all shellfish, now that I think about it. The only really flavorful shrimp I've ever had were the ones I caught wild with a net on a Hilton Head beach. Really tiny things when you cook 'em, like the size of those freeze dried ones in shrimp ramen. Absolutely bursting with flavor though.
