I regularly force myself to buy smaller sized items even though they're a worse deal because goddamn it I don't need that many, snacks are addictive enough
It's like calculated to get people absolutely hooked or to overeat junk food. They've gotta be having like weekly meetings about engagement and sales, carefully planning when and where to advertise to people when they're most vulnerable, etc. A special kind of cruelty. I swear this is the current generation's "advertising cigarettes to children" moment.
Someone with a need to write a masters thesis on something should study advertising and placement of snacks and the sales data against national mood or something. I bet there's correlation.
At least when people smoked they could look really cool.
