I find myself hoping for large scale social security interruptions. Like, payments immediately ceasing. It's the only thing I can think of that will wake people up. (And then I hope those responsible are replaced and it's fixed quickly)

I know that won't happen. Payments might get slower, people will have to fight harder for them, a small amount of people will be denied completely, but most will just shrug and go "well, it's not THAT bad"
