@byte Indeed. It's so frustrating that the space is so bad and so badly documented. Most of the good alternatives don't actually document how to boot them (just "install our SD card image with out utterly sus version of Linux") and don't document whether they work with unmodified kernel. I'm using a Libre Computer Le Potato, but the way you boot it is literally paritioning your SD card to leave unused space before the first partition and dd'ing some boot blob to a particular sector number. 🤦
