Old City - within old Jerusalem walls
New City - outside of the walls, beautiful neigborhood built by Palestinians, and included many surrounding villages.

Palestinians were taken by force, they are the citizens of the country and should have been given citizenship by any occupied force according to the international laws, but they were not given Israeli citizenship and made to be state-less and refuges. They changed the currency, so the money that Palestinians carried became value-less.
