On the Yahoo news report I saw that being discussed.

Sadly, it's being discussed as if it was 20 years ago.

Yeah, no.

That USED to be true.

Hell, back in the 1980s we'd pull out of port with a CVN, 2 Tico CGs, 4 DDGs, 4 FFGs, an oiler and a 688 boat as a scout. Usually some NATO smallboys along for the ride too. Standard task force size was 10 to 15 ships.

Nowdays, a carrier steams around with 2 DDGs. Sometimes with one of the few remaining CGs. And that's it. Because that's all we've got.
