@davidzipper It's so stupid. This "feature" will say "object in the road reported ahead" right while you're driving around said object.

Another huge safety antifeature of Google Maps is that it will route you through residential road shortcuts to corner-cut a few hundred meters off your trip length at the expense of putting everyone on that road in danger and the driver at risk of causing an incident there and being stuck dealing with the damage they did.
