@Remittancegirl They're great for when you need to do a lot of things. Petticoat seams, the long seams of some big garment that needs a lot of other hand finishing like a coat, etc... If you've got the tension right the overlock is also pretty flexible, so it's nice inside arm's eyes, sleeves and such... But what I love it most for is sewing together a flat-lining and fashion fabric layer and finishing both in one go! Or going over the edges of some large piece of fraying fabric I know I'll be throwing about a lot, like skirt pieces. It's SO fast for that!
