Adrianna TanA huge feature of every election for me has been going to rallies and listening to speeches made by old school politicians in non-English, non-Mandarin languages. To me they represent a robust post-colonial Singapore that has faded, the one of unions and debates, a world before technocracy. Being able to understand the Teochew and Malay speeches felt like a connection into that past.
