Something most people don’t get looking at a map or out an airplane window is how very breathtakingly BIG California is.
I’ve driven the length many times. It’s almost 900 miles, stretching more than 10 degrees of latitude from the border of Mexico to Oregon.
It takes 16 hours of non-stop driving IF you don’t get stuck in traffic or a blizzard and don’t stop to pee.
You pass through multiple ecosystems, from Mediterranean climate to coastal redwood forests.
AND more than 10 degrees of longitude east/west, from high desert to the Pacific Ocean with mountain ranges and valleys and volcanoes in between. (I’ve driven a chunk of that too.)
Vast expanses of land.
Saying you sent the military to turn on water for SoCal from the Pacific Northwest is utterly completely ridiculous.
