It is more like short-term thinking caused by capitalism makes people seek profit at the expense of societal wellbeing. Society reduces its reproduction rate to compensate, which becomes a downward spiral to the bottom of the barrel.

The domestic workers are too expensive for companies competing in a global market so they import foreign workers they treat and pay worse than native born citizens.
