(A bit of background)
I was a precocious but awkward child. Everyone except for my immediate family thought I was a boy, plus none of my peers could understand what I was talking about, so I was never in the "pack."
While I wasn't a tomboy, I was deeply confused about my gender. My appearance eventually conformed with my assigned (physical) gender around puberty & I came to terms with that.
