I’m glad I didn’t receive an overwhelming amount of work today; I have the energy to write far beyond my 200-word goal. Unfortunately, the day off has given me plenty of time to think, and has divided my attention on what I could spend my time diving into.
I waffled back and forth on even bringing up my brush with postpartum depression in fathers. Despite checking almost all the boxes, I was fairly certain I wasn’t struggling. I shrugged off almost all of it in the middle of picking up cleaning supplies in Lowe’s. I realized that dwelling in the deep melancholy I was feeling might be the most selfish thing I could be doing. My wife and daughter deserved a selfless husband and father. Realizing how I was acting, I felt the wet blanket that had been smothering my joy for several weeks fall off. In the week since then, I’ve felt better than I have in a month.
Something that might be helping with that is my wife’s insistence that I get back to running after work again. Sure, it was 20 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, and only 40 today, but it was daylight, so out the door I went. Given the chill and my lack of cold endurance, I kept both relatively short. Hopefully, in a few months I can get back to regular 5km runs, but for now the 1.25 mile jogs are good enough.
To launch my new YouTube channel, I’m creating: I’ve decided to make a short video of my beehive restoration. I’ll have to type out the process here on the blog, but that’ll come out after the video goes up so I can cross-link properly. I don’t think it’ll be too difficult. Installing the new wax foundations should take longer than the hive restoration. Either way, I’ll need to clean my shop up first, and I have a phone call to make to the beekeeper I’m getting mu nucs from. It’ll be good for me to go into my concerns and mitigation strategies before I implement them as well.
Last, thanks to the video feed today, I’ve settled on making a quick programming guide for the VGC N7500 and N76. It’s a combo video since they both use the same app, and the hard part is typing everything into the app. It’ll give me an excuse to sit down and sort out why I can’t seem to get WinLink working quite right. Once I get that solved, I can try out some more advanced digital modes. I’m fairly certain unpairing and repairing the radios from my phone will solve the main issue I’m having, since a reset like that seems to solve most control issues like I’m experiencing.
If you’ve made it to the end here, thanks. I didn’t set out an obvious goal for these, so they’re coming across more like a live journal than a proper post. I’m keeping up with this through February at least though, but starting next week (Day 8, we’ll say), I’ll be transitioning to a more focused writing. Sticking to one topic and making the published post about that.
Till next time, take care.
