@ChadleyDudebro @lutoma @johl "evolution", i.e. directional mutation and adaption, can be easily observed in only a few generations in cells - novel traits, like E.coli that can digest lactose, or fungi developing toxin resistance, can evolve in hours
in fact, the immune system for antibodies is basically an induced mutagenic evolutionary race towards finding a binding protein to attack some pathogen
