We started regular hikes during the pandemic, checking off sections of the Appalachian trail going through NH and VT. On one of those family hikes West of Norwich, in the course of scanning the forest for mushrooms, I noticed this little puffball.

"oh hi little birdie”

"looks like you just fledged, have you tried looking around for bugs yet?"
"FOOD!”
"right, well, we’ll get moving along so the parents can come help you out. good luck!”
