I'm trans, so nothing against it, but I do think that adding too many fixed options is not a good idea.

Mastodon (unsure about other AP clients) offers a bunch of custom fields. Maybe those can be extended a bit in quantity, so people can have like 8-10 custom fields and put whatever they want, have the top 2 show up in a summarized fetch of the user. (I think the vanilla desktop UI does this.)
