Unsurprisingly, I've got a lot of folks who haven't heard about these instances of antiblackness from dansup. This is how I know most fedi users in general either aren't connected to Black users or don't listen to the ones they are connected to, since this is something we have spoken about before. This is a systemic problem.

Anyway, here's a post from WP (AKA a White Person) discussing several of his posts: https://mastodon.art/@welshpixie/113822469270748843

And here's a thread going into more depth about AAVE, with links to contextualize and explain why his consistent appropriation of it is indeed antiblack:

Recently the creator of Pixelfed, Dansup, went live with this https://respectfulplatforms.org It has sections for 'safeguards against hate speech' and 'strong protections for vulnerable communities'. Also recently, & a bunch of times in the past, Dansup has used AAVE (https://commonwealthtimes.org/2021/02/18/aave-is-not-your-internet-slang-it-is-black-culture/) in posts (despite being asked several times, including by Black folk, to please stop appropriating AAVE), posted transmisic comments, then deleted them and blamed it on being drunk. Receipts in the next toot.

Since *many* people are unfamiliar with what AAVE is (African-American Vernacular English, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_Vernacular_English), and thus could not identify it in Dansup's posts that I linked to yesterday, here are the snippets of AAVE he used in each post; From https://h-i.social/@poisonous/113742817594490441 , quoted at the top: 'they in my mentions', 'it be kinda' . Note the missing 'are' in the first example, and 'it be' instead of 'it is'. These are strong examples of AAVE. 🧵
