There's a group of 10 young Mexicans on the other side of the border fence. They were talking a little too fast for me to get the entire story but the gist of it was that they were trying to cross, got chased by a helicopter and apparently dropped their packs running back into Mexico. Now they're stuck over there, seemingly without a guide and with no food or water and no warm clothes on this night that is supposed to get below freezing. Hopefully they can make a campfire over there.
I got them a bunch of bottled water and granola bars from the supply tent and handed it through the gaps. I work with Ajo Samaritans, based in Ajo, AZ farther to the west. But we share the same philosophy as the Samaritan groups that run this camp: if people need food and water, we give it to them, no matter their immigration status.
