"The Slovo Building" is a legendary structure in Kharkiv, built between 1928 and 1930 to house Ukrainian writers, artists, and other cultural figures. It became a symbol of both the flourishing of Ukrainian culture in the 1920s and the tragedy of the "Executed Renaissance," as many of its residents faced repression under Soviet rule.
This was a five-story residential building with apartments designed for writers and their families.1/2
