Today’s meeting between EU MEPs and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte:

Rutte directly contradicted Donald Trump by saying Ukraine had been promised NATO membership, and we had to support Ukraine so they could get to a position of strength, and the US would never leave NATO. He also said Trump’s words on Greenland did not matter, as he was not inaugurated yet.

Rutte said, EU countries needed to spend 3.7 % on defence, because Russia’s war economy is producing four times what NATO produces.
