Monterey county Asian supermarket tips:
1. First Oriental Market in Seaside and Asian Market in Marina both have homemade kimchi and kimbap. The homemade kimbaps are $2 in both places and v good. First Oriental usually sells out before 1pm.
2. In Marina, Asian Market (Korean) and Del Monte Asian Market are side by side in the same mall. The latter does a mix of Vietnamese and Filipino stuff. They also have Malaysian fishballs, Chinese rock sugar..
3. There is an excellent Salvadoran pupuseria next door too.
Monterey county isn’t San Jose re immigrant food diversity, but the Seaside / Marina side of things is not shabby at all. I’m glad I chose to stay on this side.
Monterey / PG are cute, but doesn’t have the shops / restaurants I personally want
Going to check out the Hispanic markets and I saw one halal market and one Indian market too.
