In the 1800s, cutting down trees resulted in the water in NYC being polluted. Agriculture pollution and sewage did play a part, but the trees were decided to be such a big problem that 18000 were planted. 💧🌳
What happened? Imagine water slowed by vegetation and absorbed into soil, where many of the pollutants are filtered or absorbed. Some of the water will end up in our lakes and streams, cleaner than before.
