mccShould the tutorial have mentioned this? Should the reference manual have? Should the "Starting Forth" book I read a big chunk of, with the friendly cartoons, have mentioned it? Should, for that matter, the spec— which defines separate interpreted and compiled semantics for *many* words, but not CHAR ( https://forth-standard.org/standard/core/CHAR )— have mentioned it? None of them did. I found out by word of mouth on Mastodon that CHAR (and possibly some other stuff?) needs square brackets to act normal. (2/2).
