My friend helped someone get away from an abusive cult/marriage. The #cops and a #restrainingorder were practically useless, and to this day they have to do everything off the radar as the cult has people to try and investigate her whereabouts. This effectively makes #batteredshelters a prison or sanctuary that they are locked away because as soon as they leave they could be tracked down and killed. One would think the cops would have a database where they could cross check with local homes, but maybe they don't trust cops to have that kind of access as 10% of active cops have a #DomesticAbuse record. Until we get to the root of the problem, and take #domesticabuse and rapists seriously, with laws with actual teeth the woman get punished for having to go to a center.
