We all know that the idea of waste will always be subjective because we like it if they spend it on what we want and not if it's spent elsewhere.
But we no longer live in a democracy, we live in a bureaucracy, and the purpose of a bureaucracy is to maintain the bureaucracy. Until this is dismantled, the money will continue to flow from our pockets to theirs under pain of imprisonment. What they spend it on is irrelevant, as long as they get their cut for *administering* it and enlarge their domain. It's even better if they can spaff it on useless or damaging stuff and call us -ists/-phobes in the process, because that really rubs our noses in it.
